*UPDATE: As you can see with their response below to my review, they just defend themselves and don't care to fix the situation. The calibration is not required at all. It's something you guys add to scam people. Call Tesla yourself so they can correct you. 100% sending a very detailed email to corporate. Disappointed is an understatement. If you own a Tesla, stay far away from this location and SafeLite in general! When I originally booked my windshield replacement, the quote online said $675 and this included new wiper blades. I wasn’t going to use my insurance since my deductible is $1,000 and wasn’t worth filing a claim. When I arrived to my appointment, I told the lady at the front desk to just remove my insurance information for this replacement since it was below my deductible and didn’t make sense. She responded with “Your new windshield is going to cost well over $1,000”. I was a little confused so asked her to explain. She continued to tell me that the $675 price was for an aftermarket windshield, not one from Tesla and they only had Tesla ones in stock. She then stated that the calibration alone was going to be $500. Since I didn’t really have a choice, at least I thought I didn’t, I told them to continue with the install. The crack was almost my whole windshield and was getting worse everyday. After a few hours, I got the call that my car was done. I was sent an email with a receipt. This is what got me mad. On the receipt, the labor for the windshield installation was $189 but the labor for the calibration that took maybe 10 minutes besides the drive, was charged at $500. At this point, I knew this company straight out scams people when it comes to this ‘calibration’ thing. On my way to pick my car up, I called the Tesla dealership to get their opinion. When I told him I was charged $500 for the calibration alone, he laughed and said “yeah, it costs absolutely nothing to do that, and the car isn’t even fully calibrated until about it’s driven about 100 miles after install. We get calls about SafeLite all the time and people are constantly getting scammed there” Tesla quoted $1,500 for this entire job and I should’ve went with them but didn’t due to the better price SafeLite had falsely stated. When I got to my car, I inspected it before going in. For a “NEW” windshield, it for sure had a lot of scratches. I also asked them to put my old windshield wipers in my trunk so I knew they replaced them and they didn’t even listen to that. As I went inside, I asked the front desk lady about my concerns and she had tech come up to answer them. The only thing he could say is “SafeLite makes the prices”. I had expressed that they charged me $189 for a two hour install on my windshield but $500 for a calibration labor that took maybe 10 minutes. He told me it shouldn’t be categorized as labor. I then told him that Tesla themselves said this is something the owner of the car can do and he said that isn’t correct. They obviously didn’t know what they were talking about because the tech said they needed to use special computers at a remote location to do the calibration which is completely false. I guess they just hire anyone who can install a piece of glass but not know anything about the make and model of the car they’re working on, and it for sure showed. So to go from $675 to $1,800 all set and done, is the definition of a scam. If you take a look at all of the bad reviews under this page, SafeLite responds defending themselves for almost every one instead of hearing the customer and making the situation right. I think we all know a business or two that does it, and you usually want to stay away from them. You can definitely tell whoever is in charge of this location and their reviews, has absolutely no idea what they’re doing or how to handle situations like mine and others. All and all, don’t go here if you have a Tesla or really any car that has one small sensor, even if it’s on the trunk. You’ll get hit with a fee to calibrate it and it’s their way of scamming your insurance company to get more money.

I am so angry with Safelite West Chester. I had an appointment scheduled for Friday afternoon between 1:30 and 5:30 and I took the afternoon off of work. At 4:00 PM I called to get an ETA. They told me the technician was having problems at another appointment and was delayed. They never called to say that, to reschedule, and to tell me that I shouldn't wait around for their arrival. They said he would arrive at my location "after 6:00 PM." or, they said, he could come on Saturday morning. I am not available. It is 6:45 PM and the technician never showed up. I can't speak with anyone because it is outside of their Monday to Friday hours. This is unprofessional and incredibly inconsiderate. [Update:] The technician arrived at my location at 8:45 PM. Fortunately I had removed the old windshield and had the car prepared to receive the new one and I have a garage to work in. Between the two of us we had the new glass installed in under an hour. Not only did I waste and entire afternoon waiting, I missed dinner with my returning college daughter. This was not the technician's fault. I felt badly for him. The fault lies entirely with the office management. This should have been rescheduled the minute they knew the technician wouldn't be there before 5:30. There is no reason we should have been installing a windshield at 9 on a Friday night.

I had a rock chip that turned into a 5” crack. Scheduled to have my windshield replaced, but instead I received broken trim and a completely shattered windshield. The technician stated that the trim was glued down, but when I got home to look at it, I found that he never removed the fasteners that hold it in to the vehicle. The bolts that hold the trim in place are overlapped with additional trim on the roof of the vehicle which were never removed. The broken remnants are still bolted in place. The technician then told me he was unable to remove the glass after he shattered it in multiple places. Oh, and he somehow managed to break my washer fluid reservoir cap. After being told by the manager that they would take ZERO responsibility, I took my vehicle elsewhere for repair. I’m still out $250 for the trim they broke!!! Think twice before you call Safelite West Chester to work on your vehicle! *Update* Still no response back from corporate Safelite. Notice how the manager has an excuse for the broken trim (in his comments below), but doesn’t acknowledge the broken washer fluid cap, or the fact that their technician was “unable to remove the windshield” that an actual reputable shop had no issue with. I’ll say it again, think twice before using this company!!!

I have spent 15 hours of time in the last 7 days waiting for safelight to replace my windshield. After a no show no call from the churchville md location a d waiting out entire 5hr appointment i rescheduled for 3 days later with the west chester pa shop. The first bad experiences with this store starts on the 2nd day of safelight bs when I called for an update then told they have to cancel this day due to my replacement windshield being damaged. After rescheduling for the following day and receiving a confirmation and info about the tech that was to come out I called just before 5 as I had been waiting since 130 and was reassured he was on his way after waiting to 630 I gave up no one showed no one called no one emailed and now today 30 min on phone trying to straighten out. The manager i did speak to aswell as the last 2 customers reps. I dealt with where understanding and tried to best of ability to be helpful. The first one not so much ended up transferring to dead end line and was rude / not helpfull or understaning. Do your self and favor and try to find a locally owned glass shop as I did and saved $100 bux and was treated much better.

I had a windshield that should have been replaced under warranty per the Safelite tech who came to my home and inspected my windshield. When the tech called the West Chester office and some with the manager Jason, he said this is not a warranty issue. The tech and Jason the manager went back and forth about the issue and explained that there was no point of damage. However, Jason wanted to speak with me on the phone. He suggested maybe a bird hit my windshield and I didn't look around for enough for a dead bird. After going back and forth with the manager Jason, I was tired of being treated disrespectfully and handed the phone back to the tech. He instructed me to call and number and speak with someone higher up about the issue. When I called corporate, she called the West Chester office and Jason could not come to the phone for whatever reason but another woman said the tech's notes must be wrong and that it is not under warranty. It's still in the system on corporates end that there is no point of impact. I would not recommend this location.

This place is one of the worst companies that I had ever dealt with! I have been to this place twice. First, I wanted them to look at my windshield. They never got off their chairs to look at my car. They gave me some half-hearted estimates based on a vehicle that similar to mine. Second, I had an appointment since my insurance has a partnership with Safelite, unfortunately. The technician called me to explain they couldn't replace my windshield due to damage to my front end, and it would mess up calibration. My friend, who's a mechanic, said that front end damage shouldn't be a problem when replacing and recalibrating a windshield. In fact, he said their explanation was ridiculous and lazy. Don't go to Safelite! I wasted so much of my brother's time and mine. And I got nothing in return but anger and frustration. These people are unprofessional, dishonest, and lazy. Please find another shop if you can. I recommend going to Turbo Auto Glass for your windshield needs. You'll have a far better experience. And it will far less stressful too.

I made an appointment to repair my two chips I had in my windshield. I made the appointment through the website. It calculated that my repair would cost $199 + possible additional costs. I wanted to be proactive of my windshield since I have a Tesla x and to replace a windshield would cost so much. I went in to my appointment and Harold was my technician. As soon as he looked at it he asked me how much I was quoted. I told him and he said that these chips were so tiny that he will talk to someone about the price. I usually get taken advantage of at shops because I just don’t have enough knowledge of the inside of cars or the body of cars. He came out 15 minutes later and told me I did a good job coming in to take care of the chips when it was that small. Harold is a man of integrity, knowledge, and just a kind person. I could’ve been down $200 plus but I ended up being down nothing. I will surely recommend this location to everyone and will be here for all of my family’s window needs.

My experience was frustrating from start to finish. My first appointment was canceled the morning of because the windshield hadn’t arrived—something that could have been communicated in advance. When I did finally get my appointment, I dropped off my car at 7:30am. I received a call around 1pm that they started the work and then never received a call with an update. I called the help number around 5pm but the person couldn’t reach anyone at the West Chester office. She directed me to drive to the garage. When I got there the office was closed. At least the garage was open and the technician was able to process me and give me my car. Additionally, our address wasn’t eligible for at-home installation, which was one of the main reasons I chose this company. They heavily market convenience and customer service, but that was not my experience at all. Overall, I won’t be using their services again and would recommend exploring other providers.

Fast, efficient, and professional service! Tech got my Mazda CX-5 windshield replaced and recalibrated in ~65 mins. I was in and out in under 1 hr 15 min. Thankful the staff called to move my appointment up over the lunch hour due to cancellations. Only part that was slightly frustrating is the staff informed it would take a little over 2 hours, even when they asked me to come in early. I understand they want to give themselves space to operate in case they get busy, but overestimating by 1+ hours when you’re asking someone to come in early to put the team to work is annoying when you know a windshield replacement takes 40 mins or less (without recalibration) and don’t have the option of dropping off your car. Improving accuracy of these estimates day-of when they know their schedule would be helpful to future clients.

Done with Safelite as a company. They no longer seem to do the Mobile glass repair, which was convenient since their shops are far away. Today I drove almost an hour to get to a shop only for the dirty looking technician to come to the desk (because they don't even have a receptionist) and tell me that I was 30 minutes late for my drop off time and they can't fit me in today. Who schedules so poorly!? A simple modicum of courtesy would've gone a long way, but I had to travel some 20 miles to the shop just to be told it glass can not be replaced in a windshield in a day. Then, if you want to complain to corporate, good luck...Zero accountability from a brand that puts more effort into their commercials than they do their shops and operations. Never again.
