Update 04Jan2024: Yesterday I brought the car back after replacement parts were ordered and GlassTek finished the job to my satisfaction. Thanks for a solution-oriented attitude! This shop is very conveniently located for me compared to SafeLite in Oakland, and was covered by Geico so I chose them. The work was done promptly, customer service was good, and an OEM windshield was installed per my request. However, when I examined the work in daylight the next day, I noticed the upper weatherstripping is crooked, and the rain sensor (for wipers) had sealing gel peeking in the window. Anybody who looks closely at this can tell it's not a factory job. When I took it back for them to review their work, I was told all windshield replacements look like this, and they can straighten the weatherstripping in the summer when it's warmer. The technician I spoke with also said the factory uses robots to install windshields and they can't do it as straight. When I asked about the gel peeking in the rain sensor window near the rear view mirror, he said it's vacuum sealed and they calibrated it, function and seal are guaranteed for life. There was no mention of correcting this condition. Maybe I've overly picky, but I'd like the car to look factory in case I ever sell it, and I'm not impressed with the workmanship or response I got when I complained about it.

I have been coming here for a few years and the owner has been consistent on the quality of customer service he has provided me. He is pretty friendly and provides enough care, product, and service information before working on my car. I have had my windshield changed twice and my passenger side mirror changed once for my Corolla. The rates are reasonably priced and the work order was done fast. It seems like this place is getting more business since there are more people working here. I still suggest making an appointment early on the week. The place is small and not enough parking space but the place is clean, which is a plus to me. There is enough to do around the area so it does not give me any reason to linger around while they work on my car. The Alameda brewery is just around the corner which is great for lunch hours. The workers here are efficient and friendly. I feel like I can ask them anything about the work order without feeling like I’m nagging them. I do remember when the owner was the only one running the shop and the front desk simultaneously. I’m really glad that the place is getting more clients because I’m sure I will be maintaining my business with this place as long as I live in the Bay Area.

If I could give 6 stars I would. As someone who is very new to the area - I based my shop choice entirely on google reviews... and I'm glad I did! The service and communication I received from start to finish was faultless. The problem was a broken window regulator. After replacing it, the problem persisted and the regulators kept breaking. It was then identified what the root cause of the issue was.... Through no fault of their own, the required part for fixing my passenger window is very hard to come by. The team at GlassTek replaced the window regulator, free of charge, and are continuing to source this part on my behalf. For ANY glass related issues I encounter in the future - I'll be going to GlassTek Alameda straight away. A great team, excellent customer service, and highly skilled tradespeople. 10/10

Excellent service. Professional and efficient with friendly smiling faces. I had an appointment booked with Safelite two weeks in advance, and Safelite called AN HOUR before the appointment to tell me they wouldn't have the glass for TWO WEEKS. I got a referral from Geico for Glasstek. I called them and not only was the glass available but I could start driving there and they'd be ready for me when I arrive (about 30- 45 minutes later). They were done earlier than i expected, the car was clean with no obvious glass. I hope I don't need another rear passenger window replaced (this is the second), but if I do I'm going to Glasstek. Definitely worth the drive from Richmond.

In my years of owning a car, I've seen few who paralleled the customer service that I received at GlassTek. I had a minor hiccup with my wipers after getting my windshield replaced, due to a small error by the tech when putting the wiper blades back on, and Marcel and Megan far exceeded my expectations on what good customer service was. They took complete responsibility for the mistake, when I was expecting to be blamed, and fully apologized and were so much more than accommodating. I highly recommend working with them because they show you what it means to care about the customer and care about their business. And my new windshield is fabulous!

I would just like to post a compliment here based on a phone interaction I had with this business about a week ago. My insurance company had left our family stranded and without a vehicle after a window break-in, and we were starting to panic. The team at Glass Tek answered their phone immediately, which other businesses did not. They answered all of my questions promptly, honestly, and they went above and beyond the call of duty to give me some realistic repair options. They were so nice, and I am really grateful just for the human element. If you live in Alameda and need glass work, 10 out of 10. These folks are good people.

They used to repair windshield chips throughout the day, now they do it only after 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm. I had been their customer for several years. Got a different company to fix it, they saved my windshield, and the quality of the work was much better than what I got at Glasstek before. Does Glasstek really expect to just do the more profitable type of work (i.e. change windshields) and ignore their customers when they need a chip repair? Sorry, but I need a windshield shop that I can trust all the time, not just when it is convenient for them.
