I had a Crack in my windshield and Safelite was recommended for the replacement. BIG MISTAKE! The tech (Darcy) came out on Sept 4th right at 8am. He was very nice, but super energetic and eager to start. He said he likes to get an early start and move quickly through his day. He was very quick, and It didnt even take him a whole hour to complete. I can only assume that in his haste, he made these errors. Fast forward to 12pm, I go outside to check the windshield and head out for my lunch break. The seals surrounding the bottom of my windshield and bottom corners were so chiseled away at and lumpy and warped that I immediately stopped and called Safelite. Upon further inspection there was a small chip on the middle edge of the windshield on the passenger side. When I got in the car, the housing that covers the rear view mirror was poorly connected and rattling. I took photos of everything. When I spoke to the rep on the phone, he actually sounded like he cared. WRONG AGAIN!! The rep asked me to send photos, which i did, and a second rep was scheduled to come out on the 5th...next day. (Andrew) the tech shows up on the 5th and is there all about 5 minutes. He takes the same pictures I already sent, and sends them to his boss. He tells me "Yeah, that's pretty much all they sent me to do today". He informs me that his boss is going to give me a call. Fast forward to today... I hadn't heard a thing, so I call to follow up. The rep tells me that the boss (Matt) who runs the remote Elizabeth city location put notes in my acct/claim saying that they aren't going to do anything because it was just normal wear and tear. I never heard from Matt and he obviously is trying to brush me off as he decided I wasn't even worth a callback to notify me of this BS decision. The kicker is that I just bought this car and the seals were 100% in tact and flush when I left the dealership with it a month ago. How your allowed to manage a business like this and treat paying customers this way is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional! The unnecessary stress this is causing me after paying $500+ for YOUR SERVICE is absolutely ridiculous. Safelite if this is the best representation you have for this location, perhaps you should close the doors. This is far from over! Do better!

Update: I wanted to update my review because I was so happy with the service I received from the gentlemen named Will. He went above and beyond to help make sure my parts were ordered and that I was updated on progress consistently. The installer was also very helpful and professional. I was told that there was a massive overhaul with the company and many things were changed within the business. I’m happy with the results and would recommend the Chesapeake location to anyone. Original post: I had my windshield replaced back in July. The technician was quick but had ruined the seals below my windshield. It looked like he had tried to use a screwdriver to pry them up and they look terrible. He also did not reconnect my rain sensor appropriately. So afterward, my windshield wipers would only go super fast or super slow. I would call the number several different times a day and either get a voicemail or get sent to their customer service line. When I did get to speak to someone, they said they would order the parts and would contact us when it was in. I had to set up another appointment for my rain sensor to be fixed. The technician that came out was great and very helpful. However, he had no idea about the seals needing to be replaced, or if the parts had been ordered. It has been about five months since my windshield has been replaced with no contact from Safelite about coming out to fix my car or parts being replaced. It’s unfortunate that my insurance company recommended Safelite because I will never recommend Safelite to anyone.NegativeProfessionalism

Pretty bad experience for my windshield replacement. 1st visit: they put in a generic windshield (that's what was approved by insurance) and the anti-collision cameras in my car couldn't be calibrated. Safelite told me to take it to Subaru to have them calibrate. Subaru said it would be over $400 to calibrate and that it wasn't a guarantee it would work because it isn't a Subaru windshield. I called Safelite and the manager said the technician shouldn't have said that and they need to work with my insurance company to get a Subaru windshield. 2nd visit: They called me 2.5 hrs after my car appointment to let me know that they had the windshield to install but they didn't have the molding onsite. I had to reschedule to replacement to another day. They told me that they closed in 30 mins, which was a 5pm closing time. They were open until 8 or 9 for my first visit (both days were Saturday). I couldn't get to my car to pick it up in time so I had to wait until a Monday to go and get it. The technician did offer to leave the keys in the car, so I could get it after hours! I'm not doing that. 3rd visit: Windshield replaced and system calibrated, but the system isn't working properly. Looks like I need to call Safelite again! It took 3 trips on a Saturday to get the windshield properly replaced and it still isn't right.

Scheduled a windshield replacement on a Monday, and all went smooth. Safelite waiting until almost an hour into my appointment window to call and say they didn't have the windshield in stock and I would have to use an OEM windshield, which I requested from the beginning. The representative mentioned multiple times to go with one of their competitors. The representative said they could do it, but it would cost $700 more. This is beyond unacceptable. After conversations, the representative said they would ask if my insurance would cover the additional cost. I planned my day around this repair window of 8 am-1 pm. Thanks autolite..... Update! Rescheduled my appointment after speaking to both the local store and regional customer service. They claimed that they had an aftermarket equivalent. Tech shows up at the scheduled time and i asked if the windshield that he brought had the acoustic layer like my oem. He said it did not. He called his manager and both confirmed it was the wrong windshield. Called customer service and they said the oem equivalent was in stock. After multiple phone calls, the glass that the tech had in his truck was correct and is coming back out to install. Absolutely horrible experience.

After getting my windshield replaced, I was driving down a very, very busy four lane interstate and a torrential rain downpour occurred. My windshield wipers were running and all of a sudden they stopped and quit working. I was lucky to be able to maneuver over very cautiously, and get off the interstate without causing an accident, hurting someone or even worse, or hurting or injuring myself. Come to find out the windshield wiper motor was not properly connected by the technician. That is the technician from the Chesapeake Virginia branch. I was able to get to the Virginia Beach branch and they found the problem and fixed it within 30 minutes. I greatly appreciate the Virginia Beach shop, but I would never call and work with the Chesapeake shop again. I have tried to call their shop five times and have not been able to get through to anyone to speak to. I do not recommend the Chesapeake branch.

I would preface to say, that yes, my glass was eventually replaced by this company and it seems to be a solid replacement. The process of quotes and scheduling was frustrating. There were delays due to billing conflicts (their cash price is cheaper than my insurance quote, but I wasn't offered a cash quote until AFTER they had scheduled through my insurance, which took multiple phone calls to rearrange). Then, my replacement glass was damaged during shipping, so my appointment needed to be rescheduled again, for 3 days later. It took a full week for my glass to be replaced from my first call. Finally, my vehicle had messy residue left behind on the interior after service. (What appears to be white chalk dust and bits of white foam insulation, as well as black sealant gunk on my steering wheel and 2nd row of seating).

Place my appointment online in 2 weeks advance. Then I get a call the day of my appointment that they did not get the part yet. (My opinion is how did they not know ahead of time, I feel they had someone called in or just overbooked) so they had to re schedule me making my schedule more difficult. I also choose another option that I did not have to deal with my insurance and had a $50 coupon I used online. Well they used my insurance anyways, void my $50 coupon. Even though online I had another payment which would've been cheaper than using insurance but told me that it shows different on there end and I don't get that option due to my car type. Honestly they know they can get away with this since they're the only ones around and don't have much competition.

Last Sunday I broke the glass in my truck leaving the garage. My wife drove her car while I ordered the replacement. Within 15 minutes I was scheduled for the following week. (My earliest availability!) the company reached out to confirm and make sure I was prepared. Mid week I had a concern about things I needed to have to make the process smooth for my install (tight travel schedule and I couldn’t afford delays) The phone tech wasn’t 100% sure so I spoke directly to the warehouse, and they gave me all the details I needed. The next day the service tech showed up, and from my first intro to the clean up and final hand shake, I knew I had made a wise choice. Couldn’t be happier with the experience and have already told anyone who asked about my experience.

My son was working a summer job in Virginia when his passenger side rear window was damaged. Safelite not only gave him a timely appointment but also cleaned out the broken glass in his car and put a temporary clear wrap on his window until repair could be completed. The replacement job was lead by Josh who took a complete inventory of not only the window damage but also other observable damage to the car. The job was completely and performed with the utmost care and professionalism. As I have personally experienced, Safelite throughout the country always delivers the best experience. Thanks to Josh and the Chesapeake location for the tremendous customer service and care from start to finish! Ten plus stars to them! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟+

The tech and front desk were nice and helpful. The overall appointment took about 2 hours. Google says calibration for my windshield should take between 30-45minutes. My bluetooth earbuds had reconnected to my car for a few minutes so I don't really know if the calibration actually happened. I also researched that if the tech doesn't actually disconnect the camera then calibration is not needed. I used my insurance so it wasn't a big deal just seems like a scam since you don't really know if they did or not re-calibrate. This same scenario would probably happen anywhere else so 4 stars because the people were nice and overall windshield itself installed nice no scratches and seams look normal.
