Able Auto Glass

Today I was driving home from work and had the misfortune of a truck kicking up a rock into my windshield. I ended up with a chip in the glass. I got a price quote from Safelite and couldn't believe how expensive it was. My buddy suggested I try a few local shops. I contacted Able glass and the owner Chris was prompt and professional. He was able to squeeze me in right before his shop closed for the day. The quality of the work was excellent. Chris is very honest and upfront(he has transparent pricing on his website). If you decide to wait while he fixes it, they have a nice office area to sit and read or watch TV. Great to see a local business providing a valuable service in his community.

UPDATE 12/11/24 The 20 year old windshield on my 2005 4runner with 200K miles had finally gotten so covered with tiny pock marks that driving into the sun or into oncoming headlights was like having a sparkler in front of me and made vision difficult. Chris again took care of problem, A+ job and price. I had to leave the vehicle to get home for an event, Chris even came and picked me up when the vehicle was ready. He has now replaced my windshield, driver side window, and numerous rock chips, all first rate craftsmanship and reasonable price. And he won't take your money unless he thinks there is a high probability of a successful repair. He has turned me down on several rock starbursts he said had gotten too far for a good chance of repair. Same thing on the windshield, I first took the vehicle in for the windshield several years ago, he said because of the age there was a good chance of rust that could impair the success of replacement, I didn't get it done. But it had gotten so bad (and dangerous) I finally decided to replace it regardless of the risk. There was a little rust, but Chris took the time to take care of it, even took before and after pictures to show me. The weatherstrip on the driver side window of my old 4Runner came loose and badly scratched up the window. Was going to take it to Safelite to get it replaced but saw the great reviews for this place and decided to give it a try and am glad I did. As a single mother who just moved to Houston, I took the chance and started calling randomly looking for someone who could help me with a broken window that I've put off for over 3 months. But after talking with Chris, I knew I had found the people I needed to work with. He asked me questions regarding the window, such as about the window regulator, which meant a lot to me because I realized he was making sure that I knew everything I needed to about what I was getting into and educated me on the issues I could be facing before I even arrived as to not waste gas or time. (Luckily it worked.) He worked with me to get me in as soon as possible around the Thanksgiving Holidays, came in the day after even though they previously had plans, and was very patient with me and my inconsistent schedule. Meeting Chris and his wife was a pleasure, as they both were very hospitable and respectful, and Chris did an incredible job with my car window and quickly at that. He actively worked to beat nearby prices, so I can rest easy knowing I didn't waste a penny. I appreciate the extra time they took to help me and give me information for my safety in the area and for my vehicle since it is not in the best shape. But I am incredibly satisfied and am excited not to have another freezing drive to visit my family this Christmas. Thank you guys, this meant the world to me.

Update: Chris saves the day again! On 11/22/22 We were on route home from picking up our pup in Dallas and received a rock chip in the lower windshield area. The next morning I immediately reached out to Chris to see if he can squeeze me in for a fix. Even though the shop was closed that day he was willing to come in to fix the windshield chip on my Lexus RX350. This was a day before Thanksgiving so I was incredibly grateful. On top of that, the repair can’t out perfect, my wife was shocked when she could not locate where the chip once was. Thank you again Chris! Chris does exceptional work and this will be the only place I will take my cars to for any future windshield repairs. Before bringing our Tesla there I spoke with him and texted him photos of the rock chip. I wanted to make sure he felt the chip was repairable before I brought the car in because the chip was in a weird spot. The chipped area was in the blacked area near the bottom of the windshield by the vin number. He was very upfront about the service, explaining all the risks involved and his different experiences with this type of repair. He was even willing to do the work after working hours when the temperature was cooler to lower the chances for any cracking. Chris goes above and beyond for his customers!

Chris and his wife are awesome and I highly recommend them. Chris had done a great job on a previous vehicle so I went to him with a more complicated problem- leaky windshield related to rust in an old pickup. I went by and discussed the issue with Chris and he gave me some tips to control the leak until I had time to bring the truck in. He also explained that it would be a job that would require a good bit of labor. he told me what he would charge (which was reasonable) but he also offered to let me do some of the labor myself to save money. He allowed me to come in so that he could remove the windshield. He then explained what needed to be done and allowed me to address the rust issue outside his shop. He even loaned me a shop apron and tools! 4 hours later he inspected the work, helped with some fine tuning, and reinstalled a new windshield. Come on, how many people these days would be willing to help in that way?! He was even apologetic when he explained that it couldn't be guaranteed! Who on earth would even expect a guarantee in that situation?! I was just happy that he was willing to think outside the box and give it a try. As far as the outcome is concerned, I am happy to report that during the recent tropical storm, the windshield did not leak!

Just purchased a used truck that has a great motor and transmission but just needed a little TLC. The first repair was replacing the cracked windshield to avoid any tickets for Driving While Obstructed! I called 3 windshield repair shops for quotes. Chris at Able Auto Glass was very communicative and helpful compared to the other 2 shops. Had a very comfortable waiting room with a comfortable couch, nice selection of books for readers, and a TV with Streaming services for watchers! The side windows of my sedan were completely destroyed from a smash-and-grab thief who decided it was a good idea to destroy my car windows for a pair of sunglasses I left on the center console. Chris is a true professional with customer service 10/10. If I could place more than 5 stars, I'd do it! My car is a Mexican Honda that needed a glass door replacement, but the piece had to be bought in Mexico. He called every place in the US to check any availability. He went above and beyond to search for the piece. I had to bring the glass from Mexico, but he offered to place it, and the results were great! He did an expeditious job. I also had the honor to meet Duke the Cat! If you need someone to replace your window, who is professional at his job, communicative, and at an affordable price, this is the place. I agree with all the 5 star reviews here. I had to replace a sunroof on my SUV (a rock hit it and shattered it) and I tried to contact several auto glass repair shops in the area. Most didn't do sunroofs and others were pricey. Chris returned my call, sent me links to the part since he didn't have it in stock at his shop and I picked it up at a local parts shop. I highly recommend this business for windshield repair. A large rock cracked my windshield 4 days ago. I called this evening, approximately 1 hour before close, to inquire about services. Chris asked me to take pics of my windshield and he would provide a quote. Within 5 minutes, he encouraged me to come to his shop right before close to avoid the rain and thus the possibility of the crack worsening. He successfully repaired my crack with very little evidence of a chip or crack in the windshield.
