A scam with endless hidden fees before you arrive. I initially booked a windshield replacement through Safelite for my 2021 Lexus NX 300 (base model) and was quoted $472.22. Once the appointment was finalized, the total quietly increased by $39.99 for a recycling fee to dispose of the existing glass, something that should have been disclosed upfront. If you’re replacing a windshield, it’s obvious there’s already one in place, so the lack of transparency here feels deceptive and intentional. To make matters worse, I received a follow-up email claiming I now needed to pay an additional $495 for ADAS recalibration, bringing the new total to $1,045.96. My vehicle does not have windshield-mounted sensors or a front-facing camera, yet they insisted recalibration was mandatory or they wouldn’t repair it. I even confirmed with my dealership. This is a classic money grab, adding hidden fees and pushing unnecessary services on customers who may not realize what their vehicle does or doesn’t require. I ended up going elsewhere and paid significantly less without the bogus charges. Disappointing experience overall. Safelite should do better by being honest and upfront, not relying on sneaky tactics to inflate costs.

Shop does poor work that they do not stand behind. Shop refused to replace a windshield that developed a 6 inch crack that originated from the site of a rock chip repair. Rather than denying my request for assistance, they bounced me around between different entities on the phone for several hours, just for a supervisor to tell me that they would give me $50 towards a windshield replacement. In an unrelated incident, they replaced my husband’s windshield after it cracked and their windshield cracked three days later and it needs to be replaced again. I would recommend attempting to replace your own windshield over having them do it. Edited to address owner’s response: I understand what a windshield repair is. However, the repair failed and instead of just telling me that the repair had no guarantee and they’d give me my $50 or whatever for a replacement, they sent me on a game of phone tag for several hours where at least 10 different people told me 10 different things just to get back at that answer. I would have rather been told they couldn’t do anything for me from the get go as to not waste my time. Interesting to note there’s no mention of the aforementioned poor install of my husband’s windshield.

Last week, I scheduled my windshield to be replaced. Safelite no longer has the option for me to talk to a representative to schedule online, so I wasn’t able to proof all of the details for my service with a verified expert. I showed up for my appt and was told that I had the wrong glass. In my opinion, this could have been avoided if they had better customer service and if I would have been able to speak to someone over the phone while scheduling. The employee who told me it was the wrong glass then proceeded to order me another glass and told me to come back today. I came back today for my appt, took off work, and took an uber back home. 30 min later I get a call saying that the glass is still the wrong glass and I have to schedule again. Not only did I waste the morning for a 2nd time and have to arrange early pickup, but the employee who had confirmed my service and who was here this morning was nowhere to be found, so I didn’t even receive an apology. I have used Safelite for many years prior to this experience, but after today, I will not be using them in the future.

Safelite broke the LTE antenna on my Model S during a windshield replacement and instead of taking responsibility for it and covering the cost of replacement, they refused. There is a history of Safelite causing damage to LTE antennas on Tesla vehicles, yet they refuse to take responsibility for sloppy work. I’d think twice about coming to this shop. The customer comes last, they lack common sense, and claim there is a guarantee for their workmanship, but very clearly there isn’t. You’d think as the evidence stacks up against them in discussion forums about Tesla antennas breaking when Safelite replaces these windshields, they would own up to it. But no, they don’t. Even Tesla Service (which is excellent by the way), had my car for three days to complete the repair and said that Safelite damaged the antenna, even sharing a diagram of exactly where the damage was located. It’s so overwhelmingly obvious at this point, but they don’t care. They will just wreck your car.

I got a rock chip fix on my 2015 BMW 740Li Xdrive windshield last year the salesman stated that if spreaded it would be replace it for free ,the chip started to spread I called them the let them know of the problem they first tried to submit a claim under my insurance but after me letting them know the salesman said would be free they directed me to Corporate where they tried to manipulate the situation so I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau I received a email from Sophie Swan stating the will give me a courtesy with a aftermarket windshield. To make a long story short a aftermarket windshield will not work on my BMW but they don't want to give me a original windshield Fast forward today they have my number blocked so I can'tspeak to anyone..DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SAFELITE THEY ARE LIARS AND DO NOT WANT TO HONOR WHAT THEY SAY!!!

Recently had my windshield replaced. Now my rain sensing wipers don’t work. This has nothing to do with the one star review. My presumption is that they will fix that and that people make mistakes and that’s fine. The reason they’re getting a bad review is because there’s literally no way to call them and get a human on the phone. Not at the location I went to in Berwyn. And not anyone through corporate. They literally won’t talk to you. So I can’t ask any questions about This issue. I presumably have to drive 25 minutes to do that. Should be criminal for a corporation to not have to answer a phone. Not everyone loves chat bots or has access to the necessary technology to schedule everything and find their answers online. You guys are disaster. And I hope, the CEO craps his or her pants on national TV.

They ordered the wrong windshield at first, but with all the features and different variations of windshields for my particular vehicle PLUS the fact that they were working with my insurance company and getting all of the information from them without inspecting the vehicle themselves —I understand how that could happen. Once they got the correct windshield, the process was seamless. Their entire staff was great. Lisa was EXTREMELY great during the entire process! I sat in their waiting area with my son while they worked on my car and I couldn’t help but notice how professional, caring, attentive and knowledgeable she was with the in-person customers and the people she was on the phone with. Phenomenal customer service to say the least.

Excellent service, tech arrived to my home close to 9:00 am and said the installation would take about an hour, he was done in about 45 mins. I waited about three days and ran my vehicle through the car was to check for leaks and their were no issues. Glass looks great! This second windshield that I have replaced with Safelite, Years ago I had a windshield replaced in a 2002 BMW, installation and service was fine, but it was the wrong windshield, the rain sensor would never work; they did offer to replace it and told me to bring it to their service center, but I never did.

I was originally scheduled for the Oak Lawn location, but due to the long scheduling times, I chose this location. What can I can say about Lisa! She really went the extra mile to make sure I had the correct windshield for my 2022 Chevy Traverse as the original windshield that was scheduled, would not have been the right one along with needing to be OEM and recalibrated. Jorge and the technician, Jose took my vehicle in not even 10 minutes after me arriving and took the time to make sure everything was done right. Thank you.ServicesAuto windshield repair

I had a fantastic experience with Safelite getting my front windshield replaced! Ernesto did an outstanding job — he was professional, efficient, and made sure everything was installed perfectly. He took the time to explain the process and answered all my questions. The work was done quickly and with great attention to detail. I’m very happy with the result and highly recommend Ernesto and the Safelite team for anyone needing a windshield replacement!
