Kal & Son Auto Glass

I took my vehicle to Kal and Sons to have my windshield replaced on 04/14/21. I shopped around and they were the cheapest shop I could find in my area. They charged me $225.00 to replace my windshield. I was in and out in about 45 minutes and they were friendly. That night I noticed the weatherstripping around the windshield was peeling up. I called Kal the next morning and he proceeded to tell me that was "normal" and couldn't be helped. He seemed to be in a hurry to get me off the phone. You get what you pay for. I took it to another shop who said they would pull the stripping off and replace it. When they pulled the weatherstripping of, they noticed the windshield hadn't been properly sealed all the way around. When they pulled the windshield of to reseal it, they discovered that Kal and Sons had tried to hide extensive rust damage along the lip of the frame by putting putty in the rust holes instead of sanding it down and properly sealing it. The putty that was used was not the proper material. The glass shop I took it to has been in Sonoma County for over 20 years and said this was not industry standard. Thankfully the other glass company I took it to was honest and completed the job that Kal and Sons botched. I should have taken it somewhere else in the first place. Steer clear of this shop and take your vehicle somewhere else otherwise it may cost you more in the future like it did me. Their "warranty" is only as good as the piece of paper it's printed on and with workmanship like this and an inability to accept criticism without lashing out at a customer, it's pretty much worthless. I had a 1978 GMC pickup that had a rear sliding window that was probably original, didn't open or securely lock, and I decided to replace it with a solid piece of glass. I first called Safelite, but they weren't able to help me because they cannot deal with pre-1981 vehicles (has to do with 17-digit VIN's). I then checked the vendors near me, and Kal and Son came highly rated on Google. I emailed them, and I got a response a couple hours later asking me to take a measurement of the window and call him back. I did so on a Friday; and scheduled an appointment for the following Monday. Got there a bit early, and the shop was obviously busy, but they took the truck on time and had the window in an hour later, faster than promised. Kal, the owner answered the phone when I called. This is better service than three other auto glass shops I called which were a little closer to home. All three went to voice mail during their stated open hours. Kal quoted a total price for windshield replacement that seemed about right. We set an appointment for just two days later. I arrived an hour early and after a few minutes wait, Kal was able to start the work. It looks like new. There's no damage or scratches to the surrounding area. It rained a few days after installation and there are no leaks. Fast, fair competent service! That's all I need. But there's more! Kal and I discovered we are both avid readers and had a lively discussion about favorite authors and books. He maintains a surprisingly large free library. He gave me a couple books he'd recommended. Kal is a life saver. We had the misfortune of a rock hitting our windshield (rental car) while being in California for a wedding. Already being stressed with wedding events, and now the terror of dealing with the insurance company, we decided to take a chance at fixing the window ourselves. We by chance came across Kal’s info on google, and called him up. His price was a extremely fair ($45 USD), and he said he could fit us in before he closed for the day. Long story short, he did an immaculate job on the windshield, and not only that, he was such a kind/professional person that he made the process so easy and stress free. To start, I had recently gotten a new windshield installed from a different place down the way and truthfully, it wasn't the most pleasant experience. I went on a trip down South shortly after and unfortunately came home with ANOTHER cracked windshield! Rocks seem to like my car... When I finally came around to getting it replaced.... again.... something I really didn't want to have to do... working with Kal was a great choice. They made the process much easier to deal with AND I didn't even need to leave my house!! The service that Kal & Son provided was quick, quality and I got a real sense that this is a family oriented business. It was also a lot of fun to watch as the new glass got installed. I highly recommend them!

I love mom and pop businesses! Kal & Son is a good, old time, honest to the handshake kind of place. One of my taxi vehicles was broken into and I needed to get that car back out on the road. The front passenger window was shattered and needed to be replaced. Kal quickly took my vehicle in, installed the window and got it back to me in a day. I didn't even realize that the mess from the shattered window was still strewn all over the front seats and some of the back seats. Without mentioning it, Kal had it all cleaned up and ready for me on arrival. The price was totally reasonable and we talked for a bit about business. Kal fit me in the same day my passenger window was smashed. He responded quickly to my inquiry, quoted a very reasonable price, and completed the job within less than an hour of my appointment time. I really appreciated his friendly and efficient service, care for detail, and even the thoughtfully arranged waiting room with a TV and bookshelf full of take-one-leave-one reading options. It was a much more pleasant experience than I previously had at Advanced Auto Glass, where I was given inconsistent quotes and promised things that could not be delivered. I highly recommend Kal & Son's services and will definitely return in the future as needed.

I had an absolutely excellent experience at Kal and Son. A rear quarter window had been smashed when my wife’s car was broken into. I called Kal and he gave me the best quote of anyone I called. It was also the nicest person I spoke to, AND he was able to see me immediately. I got the replacement glass from my dealership and took the car to him. He was incredibly helpful and nice, had it done in less than an hour without an appointment, for the best price in town, AND he vacuumed up the broken glass from the break-in. Got unlucky 2x in a month and was a victim of a burglary and a vandalism. Both resulted in my car windows being smashed..Both times I was taken care of at Kal and Sons. The most recent vandalism resulted in a damaged door, of which prevented the glass going in, so the owner helped pop out the dent enough to place the glass safely.... Then taught me how to play a pink Floyd song on the guitar while I waited for the rest of the installation. 1/15/20 Just had Kahl & son replace windshield. This is a wonderful business. Karl was admirably detailed in every stage of the planning, calling twice to inform me that two replacements were scratched and that a suitable one was coming from San Francisco the next day. His price for the work was very significantly lower than an online quote I had received from another supplier. I also heard another customer note that the price for his repair was much lower than another quote he had received. Install was done with an hour. Great business. Nice people.
